The „Red. Factor“ (windload reduction factor)

How to use it?

The reduction factor is used to reduce the self-wind onto the scaffolding, when there are multiple supports placed in a row shadowing each other form the wind, according to DIN EN 1055-4:2005-03, chapter 12.10.

As generally only one load object or formwork is considered and non-scalable load causes are only multiplied with the safety factor, the parameter only effects the load cause “SWS” (Scalable Wind on Shoring) for manual applied loads and the automatically generated self-wind on the scaffolding.

Therefore, the “Red. Factor” shouldn’t be used to represent the “service life factor” according DIN EN 1055-4:2005-03, chapter 7.2, as the “service life factor” is applied to the formwork or object as well.

Have you considered this option before and in what cases has it been useful?
